CLEAN WAVES

CLEAN WAVES IS PARLEY’S CREATIVE FUNDRAISING PLATFORM – ENGAGING
THE GLOBAL CREATIVE COMMUNITY TO CREATE CHANGE. ISLAND BY ISLAND.

Over 10 million tons of plastic waste enters the oceans every year. The problem affects every known ecosystem – threatening marine life, human health and the livelihoods of coastal communities. Island nations lie on the frontlines of this global crisis: contending with local plastic pollution and marine debris carried on ocean currents from distant cities, rivers and continents. Remote, uninhabited islands are among the most polluted on the planet and many are not equipped to deal with the plastic that washes ashore.

Created from intercepted fishing gear and marine plastic debris, Clean Waves questions the idea of ‘Away’ and connects distant islands with a global community of consumers and creative leaders to drive solutions. A collaboration space where artists, designers, activists and innovators unleash their creativity for the oceans, we work with upcycled materials to create durable, lasting products.

Photographers Inez & Vinoodh shot the launch campaign and accompanying film with M.I.A. to promote her initial Clean Waves collection, which is now available online at cleanwaves.com, at Selfridges in London, in select Dover Street Market locations and at other leading retailers globally.  The full range has since expanded to include a core ‘Archetype’ series by Parley and a new range by Inez & Vinoodh themselves, with further collaborations planned in the future.

100% of net proceeds from every Clean Wave sale support the expansion of our remote island cleanups, education and infrastructure projects. Parley’s Global Cleanup Network reached its goal of protecting 100 islands globally by 2020, and now plans to extend this program with Clean Waves and reach 1000 islands around the world – beginning with a series of locations dotted throughout the atolls of the Maldives.

100% of the proceeds fund the protection of islands, and every product features a unique GPS coordinate linked to an island – the exact place on our planet you’re helping to protect.
